Building a reliable foundation

Composite as-built drawings

Accurate as-built drawings are essential for effective facility planning, maintenance, operations, compliance, and reporting. These drawings serve as the foundation for IWMS systems, and their accuracy directly impacts the reliability of the data and reports generated by the system.

Many organizations face challenges with existing drawings, which are often in different formats, outdated, or incomplete. Some may still exist on paper, while others may be in CAD, PDF, or JPG formats, with inconsistencies across building sections. This can lead to wasted time as technicians search for and use outdated drawings.

Our process for as-built drawings

To ensure an effective IWMS system, we start by creating accurate composite as-built drawings. Our team has extensive experience in developing CAD drawings for hundreds of millions of square feet across industries like healthcare, education, government, and corporate sectors. We follow a structured process:

planning and tracking.

Field verification

Field verification is a critical part of VLogic’s process for creating accurate as-built drawings. Existing drawings often fail to reflect current conditions due to frequent changes in facilities that may not be properly documented. Even if design documentation exists, as-built conditions can differ significantly from the original plans.

Our experienced field engineers perform surveys focused on the most important aspects of the facility. They collect data on floor layouts, risers, building structures, and MEP equipment, including critical specifications like power ratings and airflow. This detailed information supports effective space planning, remodeling projects, and a comprehensive asset management system.

Building information modeling (BIM)

VLogic also offers BIM modeling services, providing a 3D representation of your building along with detailed data attached to each object. This technology facilitates collaboration throughout a building’s lifecycle—design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance.

For organizations with both BIM and traditional 2D models, VLogic ensures seamless integration, allowing both to coexist within the software system. We can also create BIM models from existing 2D drawings, ensuring all data is accurately represented and validated.
